My husband and I stayed one night in a glamping tent and did two hikes. The welcome and service at Volcano Huts could not have been better. When we arrived at 10 am, they were able to check us in early so we had access to our tent. The tent was fresh, comfortable and had a fan heater, outlets and comfortable beds. The food in the restaurant, both dinner and breakfast, was above expectations for a place like this out in the wilderness. The fantastic staff was very service-minded and gave us tips on hiking trails.

One minus for the public toilet which unfortunately was not that fresh. The guest kitchen did not feel particularly fresh either.

If you are looking for a real adventure during your stay in Iceland and love hiking while staying comfortable, this is the right place.

Functional and comfortable base camp in the middle of the valley. Great place to spend the night and then explore the surrounding area.

You'll want to arrange transport in and out of this area in advance, likely with their org's bus services. Most rental cars exclude the Krossa River entirely from their contracts, so don't be stuck with a huge bill. Your rental car will not cross it, unless you rented a super jeep. Even then, it's treacherous. The bus was a bit pricey at 60pp each way, but the trip and hike access was well worth it. You could backpack in, but this is the easier way for quicker access if you're on a timetable.

We stayed in one of the glamping tents in late august and were fairly comfortable. Communal showers, dining area. Breakfast / lunch / dinner service are all excellent. Lots of seating in main lodge.

Pool and sauna were underwhelming but overall was a fine stop while exploring this amazing area.

Außerordentlich schönes Wandergebiet. Wir hatten auf dem Basár Campingplatz übernachtet, der sehr schön gelegen ist, ordentliche Sanitäranlagen hat und aufgrund seiner Größe und den gekammerten Stellplätzen selbst bei vielen Besuchern nicht überlaufen wirkt. Auch die Bar / das Restaurant sind wirklich empfehlenswert.

Wir hatten eine der Hütten. Zweckmäßig eingerichtet, kleine Küchenecke, sehr sauber. Frühstück und Abendessen (nicht inklusive) waren ebenfalls sehr gut, es gab auch immer vegetarische Optionen . Die Duschen waren kochend heiß, Temperatur lässt sich nicht regeln

Finished my Laugavegar hike there in time to pick up my bus. |There was a race going on and it was busy outside.|Thought I’d buy lunch and a beer even though it was quite expensive (understandably). The restaurant was virtually empty and I did see a few people I recognized from the trail with the same idea already seated and eating.|Once I’d paid the guy proceeded to tell me all the tables were reserved and I’d have to go and eat in the spartan guest kitchen out the back. When i told him I wouldn’t have bothered eating if I’d known that he got a bit pissy.

Bardzo słaba polityka informowania rezerwujących nocleg o płatnym dojeździe wyłącznie busem, którego koszt przekracza cenę noclegu. Brak możliwości bezpłatnego odwołania po zapoznaniu się z pełnymi kosztami jest nieuczciwą praktyką po stronie właścicieli.
