The sous vide cod was amazing. Perfectly cooked on a bed of mashed potatoes and topped with gently sautéd spinach. I ordered a dry white wine by the glass which was perfect. I added a dusting of salt and pepper for my taste. Bread arrived before the meal and it was delicious with what seemed like a local butter with herbs. When we arrived we made a reservation—a bus tour came in shortly after we sat down so you might want to call ahead and commit when you check in.

Yes I did take that photo. On the iPhone go to portrait, touch the center small v at top of screen, then move to bottom of screen, hit f then dial down the f stop quite a bit. Then just keep moving phone until food is in focus and edges are blurred. This works well with flowers too.

Food was good, various fish dishes were fresh, tasty, prepared quickly and presented nicely. Pricey, as is the norm in Iceland.
Being a 'walk-in' traveller and not a guest staying at the hotel appeared to frighten them, but once they overcame this annoyance the service was good.

Excellent food worth the drive from anywhere around!
The cod was the same quality as the one we had at a star restaurant we went to in Paris. Perfectly cooked throughout.
The crème brûlée was also excellent, and so was their vegan dish for the picky vegan guest. You can tell by this that the chef knows what he’s doing! They even accommodated for a vegan dessert.
We only wish we had stayed longer in Hvammstangi so that we could come back the next day and try more dishes!

Food comes first. Both of my sons gave a high score to steak and sheep filet , “ very good sauce”. The filet of cod is fresh and tender, but veggies on top was too salty. Friendly staff, everybody there is nice with a big smile. Really worth to stop by even though you don’t stay in their hotel.

Po prostu restauracja hotelowa. Niezbędna rezerwacja choć sala niezbyt pełna.Tapas islandzkie bardzo ciekawie skomponowane, wszystko świeże i niezwykle smaczne. Burger jagnięcy dobrze wysmażony, mało doprawione mięso, cebula duszona słabo komponuje się z całością. Dodatki świeże. Frytki bardzo dobre. Obsługa sprawna. Atmosfera miła. Cydr niestety nie przypadł mi do gustu, dziwny landrynkowy smak. Nic nie ma w okolicy, ale trudno mi polecić to miejsce.

This was our best food experience in Iceland. Mouth-melting lamb burger was really good! Local fish filet as well. They also make their own bread served before the main dishes that is delicious too. We didn't get the deserts (were full), but next time for sure 🙂

Absolutely amazing dining experience here for dinner. I've provided many reference photos. Service was also stellar. Honestly, Restaurant BAKKI has some of the best, freshest food I've ever tasted in Iceland. Note: We're on a 10 day journey across the island and have dined many places. Who knew the best would be at a hotel with a somewhat unattractive exterior. Do not be fooled by the exterior! The food is incredible (and so was our stay at the hotel). Highly recommend you try even if you are not staying at the hotel. Also: The WC is located down the hall on the left after entering the hotel. Just past the elevator.
