Lovely yarn store close to the main road. Got to walk the floor and see how the fleece turned into roving then yarn. Friendly staff and a good selection of yarn and roving all made on farm as well. Would definitely recommend if you are a knitter or spinner and looking to create your own knit!

Here you can see yarn being processed from the sheep raised on site. It’s magical. Selection is small (not too many dyed yarns) but who cares?! Go natural!! The yarn feels so lovely to the touch because of the lanolin still in it. Truly a magical place for those who knit, crochet, or felt.

Der beste Wollladen in Island bisher. Die Wolle wird direkt im unteren Stockwerk von den eigenen Schafen gefertigt. Im oberen Stockwerk besteht ein mit viel Liebe eingerichteter Wollladen mit einer sehr kompetenten Besitzerin. Sie hat uns sehr gut beraten, und das sogar auf deutsch. Es sind Strickmuster auch auf deutsch erhältlich.
Es gibt drei dicken von Wollen und da jeweils etwa 6 (habe ich nicht gezählt, vielleicht sind es auch mehr) Farben der Schafe, von weiss über grau, braun bis schwarz. Die zusätzlichen Farben werden auch im unteren Stock eingefärbt.
Es ist wirklich ein toller Laden mit sensationeller Wollqualität und erst noch vor Ort hergestellt. Ich glaube, so etwas findet man auf der Welt nicht an vielen Orten.
Wir werden in Zukunft, wenn die jetzige Wolle aufgebraucht ist, wahrscheinlich per Internet einkaufen, schliesslich sind wir nicht ewig in Island...
Schön wäre es noch, wenn im Online-Shop mehr Strickmuster und fertige Kits für Pullover verfügbar wären, als einzig klitzelkleinen Kritikpunkt.

Amazing shop with wool mill downstairs. The lady said they made yarn from their own sheep. She introduced us about how wool was made into yarn and shown the running machines in the mill. Each roll of yarn has it's sheep number on it so you know which sheep you got the yarn from. On the way to the shop, there were cute sheep on the side of the road. It turned out a fun visit to learn how yarn was made😆

If you love sheep, yarn, knitting, or spinning this shop/mini-mill is heaven! Even if you don't, it's well worth a visit to this local place of interest. Hulda and her husband are sheep farmers who own and operate an independent "mini-mill". The yarn and spinning fiber is from local Icelandic sheep (including their own), and is carefully processed to preserve softness and minimize waste. The mill is located at their farm in a serene and beautiful part of South Iceland just off the ring road so it is an easy stop for tourists. You can tour the interesting mill and learn about the process, and then wander in the beautiful shop upstairs which sells lots of yarn in amazing natural and dyed colors. They also sell spinning fiber, knitting pattern books, as well as locally hand made gifts of clay, soap, wool, and wood. Don't miss this excellent stop! You will leave with knowledge of an industry so important to Iceland, as well as support a truly local business .

Very interesting place, learn how the wool is worked into yarn. Starting with a sack full of unwashed wonderfully soft and naturally greasy wool all the way to a spun ball ready to be used for your work of art.
Loved it.

Small, family run wool mill and store. The owners were extremely friendly and showed us around the mill and explained their process. There was a nice selection of yarn and raw wool for purchase including natural hand-dyed yarn.
