Frábært að fara í hvalaskoðun með þeim eða horfa a norðurljósin af sjónum. Einstakt! Reyni alltaf að fara á hverju ári, helst með öllum erlendum vinum og gestum þegar þau heimsækja mig.

We did not do a whale watching cruise but we did do the northern lights cruise with this company and it was amazing! I loved the idea of going out and seeing the northern lights by boat. They provide you with full body suits to keep you warm. We were lucky and got to see the lights and it was amazing!

The tour was well organised with an option to borrow overalls as it was extremely cold and windy,
clean washroom and a small bar for drinks and hot chocolate (payable). The staff were Courteous and knowledgeable. We unfortunately couldn't catch a glimpse of a whale just a little bit on the surface of the water but it's a case of luck. I guess we were not that lucky that day. Nevertheless we got to witness the breathtaking views of the mountain range.

It was a nice trip and we did spot some dolphins and two whales, that have been so close to a harbour, that you didn't need to be on a boat to watch them.. Due to the amount of people on the boat, it was difficult to see them anyway. Also there have been more people than seats on the boat!

On our first whale watching tour we couldn't find any whales so we received complementary tickets. Since we only had time on the next day before our flight back home, we took the chance and were lucky to see 2 humpback whales! Also the sight of the smoking volcano over Reykjavik on the first day couldn't be beat.

We borrowed overalls which were great for keeping warm. The guides were friendly and answered questions, besides providing important information about marine life.

The highlight was obviously the two

We were unable to get on one of the smaller boats as we planned, so we took the larger boat tour. If you want a smaller tour I recommend booking well in advance.

Our tour was still amazing with lots of Minke whale, and one very playful humpback whale. The staff were all very helpful and shared their knowledge well. The hot chocolate - with a shot of Baileys we had at the end of the trip back into Faxafloi Harbour was just the tonic after the cold winds.

Very informative, nice guide, careful approach when any animal was detected. They take whales seriously, not a money making organization. We enjoyed the trip very much and saw some whale (parts) 🍀 Could be useful: I found 3 toilets on the boat, 2 were locked so if you need to go, go. Also, don’t panic at home and bring extra 5 layers like we did 🙂 because you can get protective overalls free of charge if you are cold. Just bring warm hats and gloves (you‘ll need them anyway, wind is a killer overall the island, when properly blows) and warm socks, as well as sunglasses. The boat is very accessible from the city so don’t panic (like we did), you don’t need your car (parking in the harbour is quite expensive, 430KR per hour), just walk there and be very on time, so you get a good seat.
