The "guesthouse" was above a video shop and obviously very newly renovated. Everything was clean & new. The room was large with a beautiful view of the water. Wifi was excellent. Located in a picturesque fishing village with lovely shops & restaurants - worth a stop (if you can find it!) :)||||Pros:||1/. reasonably priced (by Icelandic standards)||2/. newly renovated & spotlessly clean||3/, wifi was excellent (& included)||4/. kitchen was large, bright & well appointed.||5/. the host was unobtrusive - after he let us in we did not see him again, but he provided his cell phone number in case we had a problem.||6/. plenty of on-site parking.||7/. desk, chair & plenty of in-room storage (more than usual by Icelandic standards)||8/. More than one shared bathroom - a plus if there are a lot of guests.||||Cons:||1/. not right on the ring road, therefore, a long, arduous trip up and through a mountain to get to a fishing village . Well maintained road but I wouldn't want to do this in the dark :)||2/. no "in room sink" that I've come to expect from guest houses in Iceland - it wasn't a deal breaker but it would have been nice to be able to "freshen up" in my room.||3/. above a shop so a lot of stairs to get to the apartment - wasn't a problem for us, but could be for people with mobility issues or with young children.||||I would defintiely stay here again.

L'établissement ne paye pas de mine mais il ne faut pas s'y fier ! Les chambres se situent au dessus d'un magasin de disques-tout électroménagers et bricoles. C'est spacieux et clair, la taille de notre chambre nous convenait parfaitement. La cuisine est bien équipée (il y a même une machine à laver !), tout est propre. Le monsieur qui nous a ouvert a été sympathique et avenant. Les tarifs sont très corrects au vu des prix pratiqués en Islande. Certes ce n'est pas situé sur la route 1 mais la route est belle et ça valait le coup !||

Omdat we in Seydisfjordur maanden voor ons vertrek met de boot naar Denemarken geen kamer meer konden reserveren, zijn we uitgeweken naar Neskaupstadur. Alleen de weg ernaar toe is al prachtig (inclusief eenbaanstunnel). Guesthouse boven muziekwinkel is echt keurig en schoon. Ruime keuken met eettafel, twee douches, twee toiletten voor zes kamers. Wij hadden een 3 persoonskamer met goede bedden. Maak ook de wandeling aan het einde van het dorp in het natuurgebied!

La guesthouse é al centro di una piccola cittadina suggestiva che sorge su un fiordo. Al tramonto abbiamo potuto osservare anche 3 bellissimi delfini che nuotavano a pochi metti da noi!!!la guesthouse é vicino ad un supermercato,una pompa di benzina e una pizzeria, un baretto e un'enoteca.|Le stanze sono comode e molto pulite! La cucina comune é spaziosa e luminosa e fornita di tutti i comfort. Le stanze in tutto sono 6 e ci sono due bagni e due docce...quindi si riesce molto bene a gestire le necessità di tutti.|Insieme al soggiorno,l'host (se glielo chiedete) vi darà anche gli ingressi gratis per la piscina/sauna del paese...dove troverete diverse famiglie islandesi incuranti del freddo, intente a entrare e uscire da vasche di temperature differenti (una vasca é veramente bollente!) Mentre si godono il panorama bellissimo del fiordo!|Il paesino tuttavia é piuttosto isolato e per arrivarci bisogna percorrere una strada in salita, passare in un'inquietantissima galleria a doppio senso ma ad una sola corsia e poi scendere in picchiata per diversi chilometri...insomma un viaggio poco rilassante!

Путешествовали на машине по трассе 1. На карте этот городок расположен в красивом фиорде. От трассы около 10 км. Картинка отеля симпатичная, недорого. забронировали. Однако... как-то не учли, что добираться до этого милого городка надо через перевал по серпантину. Ну, а тут и дождичек с туманом подтянулись.. И не туман, а просто молоко!!! Видимость нулевая, а ночевать в машине не хочется. Сил и нервов потратили уйму, пока добрались до цели. Гостевой дом на меня произвел унылое впечатление. вроде, все было, но как-то неопрятно, неряшливо. запах какой-то затхлый. когда приехали - хозяина не было. пришлось довольно долго ждать.хотя для исландии это не является исключением. из гостей были только мы, да китайцы с невообразимым количеством еды. городок симпатичный, но на след утро вставали в 4 утра, пока светило солнце, чтобы через перевал проскочить. что касается отеля - пожалуй, из 10 забронированных в исландии это был самый неудачный.

Llegamos a una hora razonable, era festivo en Islandia, y ya avisamos sobre la hora que llegaríamos, cuando llegamos tuvimos que llamar a un móvil, para que viniera a abrirnos un señor, nos dio la llave y un poco más y tenemos que subir nosotros solos sin que nos explicara nada. Le pedimos que nos enseñara la guesthouse (cocina, baños,...)||La habitación estaba sucia, limpia por fuera... pero debajo de la cama había unas pelusas... en los baños el mismo problema, los inodoros limpios pero el suelo sucio, no habían barrido.||Además de todo, la habitación olía a tabaco, ese típico olor a tabaco impregnado en las paredes. ¿Y las toallas? superviejas, sin rizo, y moradas, así no se sabe si está limpias, por eso las toallas en hoteles son blancas, menos mal que llevábamos las nuestras.||Lo positivo: wifi gratis, el enclave del pueblo en el fiordo, las vistas desde la carretera y la cocina con sus accesorios.

The Tonspil Guesthouse was a nice place to stay and eventough I am not unsattisfied I was not compleatly pleased either.
The room was quite dirty and the first thing I had to do was vacuum clean it. Appart from that the commonroom, kitchen and bathrooms were all quite clean.
The kitchen especially was quite messy (meaning that there was complete chaos in the drawers and shelves) and some of the utensils were broken. But in the end it has everything you need.
The location was nice with a smal teracce downstairs (unfortunately no chairs), a gas station and supermarket more or less right across the street.
The owner down in the shop was quite reserved.
In conclusion Tonspil was an okay stay, small and comfortable but with some unnecessary downers that I think can be easily improved with a bit more care.

This place had pretty much all you need. A pretty big room, with a nice bed. Small kitchen area, with all the necessary kitchen equipment, small dining area with a TV: All in all a pretty good place, though it's quite isolated and a little pricy. It's located over a record store with the same owner
