- Questo punto sopraelevato permette di avere una più ampia e completa vista sulle cascate e i panorami circostanti-
- Per arrivare qui seguite il sentiero che scende giù dall'area di parcheggio, ed in circa 10 minuti raggiungerete il punto più alto di questa specie di "balcone".
- Se avete visitato il lato EST di Dettifoss, non potete non raggiungere anche questo bellissimo spot.
- La strada che porta fino a qui è sempre la sterrata 864 che prosegue dopo Dettifoss. Con il bel tempo, potrete arrivare qui anche con auto non 4x4.

Ein Must See wenn man auf Island ist und auf der Ringstraße N1 unterwegs ist. Einer der besonderen Sehenswürdigkeiten und eine absolute Empfehlung die man gesehen haben muss.

If you travel to the east side of Dettifoss/Selfoss don't miss this stop! The parking lot is only 3 km going north, just be careful that the access road is very narrow and steep.
From the parking lot there is a path with at least three viewpoints not only on the waterfall but on the entire canyon Jokulsargljufur that looks majestic.
I was surprised that when I visited it my car was the only one while at east Dettifoss the parking lot was almost full. Don't miss it, totally worth it and doesn't require much time.

We were really amazed as we got out of the car and walked the few meters to see not only the waterfall but the whole valley! Like a Grand Canyon, I would say. Though I haven't seen the Grand one yet :-). Again, as with many nature wonders in Iceland, the pictures don't really show the beauty.

Sehr schöner Wasserfall. Es gibt zwei Parkplätze. Der westliche ist über eine geteerte Straße erreichbar. Der östliche leider nur über eine Schotterstraße ( ca 30 km in jeder Richtung), allerdings ist hier aber die Aussicht schöner.

If you’re on the east side of Dettifoss (you’ll know because you’re on the gravel road), make sure to stop here for a fantastic view of Hafragilsfoss and the entire canyon. There’s a narrow trail that leaves the parking area and takes you to the lookout. With a little luck, you’ll have the entire place to yourself (we did). Just be careful because the road is naaaarrow.
