A little out of Reykjavik but a brilliant property. Right on the waterfront and you get a view if the city from the other side. Villas are absolutely beautiful and 2 adults and 2 kids can stay easily. Gives you a good peace of mind. You have options of hot pool and a restaurant as well. However this is off route and you need a car for sure.

Great location on the edge of the sea. Room was clean and well looked after. Perfect base to explore the south of the island and close enough to the city for a day trip. Food options close by were limited but a really nice stay. A good spot for the Northern lights too!

This was probably the best small motel/hostel we had. The rooms were absolutely spotless. The management staff were great. We stayed in a room with a loft. With a Mom and adult son traveling… it was perfect! The hot tub atop a very cool rooftop was soooo nice. But the very best of all the night we stayed we got an amazing Northern Lights full sky performance. Truly magical!!

Very nice place and a good location. The only things i didn’t like was the stairs were so thin it was difficult to go up and down them. My daughter fell going down so it made it difficult. The sauna in the room also did not work. We had the room with the hot tub outside which was very nice. We enjoyed the stay !

Beautiful, clean, quiet hotel on the ocean.
We stayed here for our first night in Iceland because it was away from the city. You have to check in at a different location so recommend calling the Viking Village ( where you have to check in) first as it is about 15 min drive.
Restaurant is only open on the weekends so eat before you drive out to avoid going back and forth.
They have two roof top hot tubs and a great sauna! Loved it.

I always try to give a subjective and honest review for any hotels I stay at and I list the good and bad in respect of expectation vs price paid vs actual experience. Firstly the location is lovely, it is on a small peninsula surrounded by the ocean, but you do absolutely need a car as limited public transport would make it an issue. There is plenty of parking and allocated parking in front of each lodge. Some others lodges in the terraced area you need to use main car park but it is only 100m away. Check-in is either at Viking Hotel or will be emailed to you. Please read any booking notes with whoever you book through, it’s clearly stated so I don’t know why people complain. First impression of the room was nice but the layout was different that the one we had thought we were booking, specifically the sofa was at the door, then the internal toilet, then the beds. So the sofa was largely redundant as the TV was at the bed side of the room. There were two chairs and small table also. General upkeep needs improved, two lightbulbs were not working, the bathroom sink was leaking from waste (we tightened it and it was OK) and due to the high winds the WiFi and then TV signal went out. Luckily the restaurant was open (at weekends only) so we went and talked to manager who did then phone to Viking Hotel to ask their maintenance man to help fix the electrical problems. This was duly done and WiFi and TV back on in around 30mins. The restaurant looked nice but no one was there and it was a buffet but was serving Thai chicken curry, noodles and pizza. Not very Icelandic so we decided against it but it did look OK. The beds are very comfortable and lots of hot water in shower. Small fridge and kettle provided. Fridge was obviously a replacement as the door would not close on the wooden cabinet which just made it look untidy. It was dark and cold outside so we just had a quick look at the hot tubs and then found the sauna was not working (no heat or lights). Next day we planned to go out so I tried the wall safe to put our valuables in but found it locked already and not able to access. I noted these items on a quick message to Viking Hotel but got no reply so next day (Sunday) as we were passing hotel we went to reception. The manager was very helpful and apologetic, he said he had actioned the items in my message but had forgotten to reply to me. He offered us a complimentary breakfast in the hotel which was very unexpected and therefore appreciated. Breakfast was good so give it a try there. In general the stay was good, but I should mention we stayed 5 nights and no housekeeping ever made up our beds. Towels were replaced daily. Tea and coffee supplies were refilled only once, when I would have expected daily. Overall it was a good stay and the staff were helpful and polite when approached. The sauna was repaired on the Sunday evening although lights still didn’t work and it was dark in November! The location also is quite exposed and subject to the fun Icelandic winds, but the heating was great so no complaints but just be aware of wind noise sometimes could be an issue.

Location is beautiful and unique. We stayed at room #5 which is right below the Hot Tub area. Very small, clean, comfortable beds.

We had a fridge and a small kettle to heat up hot water. No microwave or any sort of cutlery so if you want to eat , bring your own.

Bathroom didn't have hair dryer, or shampoo. However, shower gel was available in the shower cabin.

This is a beautiful location and they could definitely make it even better by providing a little more inside the rooms.

Cheers .
