Tucked beside the iconic Gullfoss waterfall(3 minutes drive away) , the restaurant at Gullfoss Hotel offers a warm and stylish refuge with beautiful views of the surrounding valley.

The dining area is spacious, featuring beechwood tables and a modern Scandinavian aesthetic. A well-designed divider separates the bar from the main restaurant space, with tasteful elements like wine displays and local photography lending character to the minimalist design. Glass pendant lights descend elegantly from the ceiling, framing the stunning vistas outside.

To start, we were welcomed with homemade bread and Icelandic butter—a charming and comforting touch that set the tone for the meal.

The Smoked Salmon Cucumber Rolls with cream cheese (ISK 2,200) made for a fresh and well-balanced starter. The flavors were clean and the presentation simple yet refined with a large portion of salmon which tasted very high quality.

For the main, I chose the Lamb Fillet, served with pea purée, caramelized onion chutney, roasted potatoes, and beetroot, with a rich brown sauce on the side. The portion was generous, with two thick fillet pieces cooked medium rare—though slightly on the dry side. That said, the accompaniments, especially the purée and chutney, were excellent and tied the dish together well.

My dining partner had the piece of salmon with crispy skin which was a very large portion with the same puree and beetroot and potatoes accompaniment .

Service throughout was warm, interactive, and efficient. Staff were attentive without being intrusive, and their friendly manner added to the overall relaxed yet refined dining experience.

A lovely spot for a satisfying meal after a day of exploring Iceland’s natural wonders.

The service was good; however, the chef did not cook the lamb as requested. I ordered medium rare, but it arrived medium well—though it still tasted okay. My wife ordered medium, but hers was very well done and tasted like rubber. It was the first time she ever had to send food back.

The replacement portion was better: one piece was medium well, but the other was still well done. At $55, we expected a better experience with what should have been delicious Icelandic lamb.

Our recommendation: order two levels below your desired doneness—for example, rare if you want medium.

I ordered the cucumber salmon roll as a starter and my main was lamb, and it was a true culinary delight. It took a little while for the lamb to come out but the flavor was incredibly natural and delicious, a testament to the quality of ingredients used.

The restaurant’s ambiance was quiet and serene with a great view through the window.

가시는 분이 있다면 양고기를 추천합니다.

The Lamb Fillet is one of the best in Iceland. The skin is crispy and with the green peas puree source on the side it's balance the fat.
The Baked Cod is very fresh and just cooked at the right level.
Creme Brulee is ok. Nothing much to highlight

Total begeistert vom Essen. Wir haben hier auf unserer Autoreise gehalten und hier gegessen weil wir hier übernachten. Die Karte war sehr unscheinbar und die Auswahl an Essen sehr gering. Aber es war super lecker, reichlich und toll angerichtet. Wenn man hier schläft sollte man hier auch essen und sich nicht von der Karte abschrecken lassen. Die ist halt sagen wir mal minimalistisch. Aber das Essen ist einfach nur super!

Beautiful interior and breathtaking view. Nice people and very good food, the salmon is the best salmom i ever had. Good beers and drinks, i reccomend if you want to avoid the crowds and have some great food
