Cool stop to check out geothermal activity up close and personal. Ample parking for cars and busses is available nearby. The paths and trails are well maintained. There are wooden walkways and gravel paths. You can get pretty close to the vents and get good photos/videos of the area. There are free restrooms at the location as well. Cool place to visit.

This was a last minute addition to our itinerary, but we are so glad we went! Beautiful site. So different from what we had seen of Iceland (Golden Circle and the South Coast). Followed the creek up the mountain all the way, and went over the top. GREAT view. Green Lake was so pretty from there too.

Ja, es riecht nach faulen Eiern. Und dennoch ist dieser Bereich überaus faszinierend und sehenswert. Es dampft und blubbert an verschiedenen Stellen. Es ist ein spannendes Schauspiel der Natur, das man aus der Nähe beobachten darf. Wen das nicht anspricht oder wer ein großes Unterhaltungsprogramm erwartet, muss keinen Halt einlegen. Ansonsten kann man wandern und an Randzeiten die Ruhe ohne viele Touristen genießen. Das Auffahren auf den Parkplatz kostet Geld, der Rundgang ist kostenfrei.

It's a big geothermal area and not far from Reykjavik, so pretty nice to see if you can't go far.
There are restrooms on site.
Alosthe parking is managed by parka. I don't know if there are payment machines, because we went there by a guided tour,

This was pretty cool to look at. I liked the trials and saw some other geothermal geysers higher up the mountain. The trials are pretty well labeled and do have some lining to prevent the nature from being disturbed, which is nice. Reading about the geysers was also a cool thing to read to learn about them. Bathrooms are available here as well. Overall, pretty cool geyser to stop by form your road trip!

Seltún is an iconic geothermal wonder, where steam rises over golden and amber-hued earth. I visited twice, and each time the vivid colors and bubbling ground felt otherworldly.

Cool geothermal area, quite smaller than Hvevir but if you’re not going to the other side of the island it is a good stop. It looks like they are constructing cameras for pay parking soon but currently it is free. There are some free bathrooms on site as well. Overall a short walk and a few viewing platforms.
